Charles Spathakis, owner of Coastal Gourmet Inc., has dedicated his 14-year career serving as both innovative visionary and fastidious detailist to bring ‘gourmet’ back to his native Connecticut shoreline. The opening of Aspen, his latest business venture, fulfills a lifelong dream.

As a graduate of Johnson & Wales University, Charles began with an imaginative vision in the world of Culinary Arts, one that commanded only the finest quality and supreme customer service. With that as his foundation, he assembled a talented team of chefs and service professionals and in 1993, opened Mystic Market, a community favorite with a flare for gourmet. After expanding into two locations, Mystic Market East and West, his vision and team continued to grow with the development of Coastal Gourmet Catering providing culinary delights “off premises” and Stonington Meadows, a premiere venue for special events. With each new successful venture Charles has continued to strive towards his goal of opening up a restaurant that exceeds expectations.
